My camera wasn't always on hand this summer, but I did manage to get a few pictures of our family bowling day:
And yet, time kept on ticking and today rolled around at last: First day of School!
Here's Owen at his new school:

And here's Elliot at his new school:
I have no pictures of my first day of school, but let me tell you that a long walk on the bay in the drizzling rain while listening to MY music on my Ipod and then returning home to a quiet house for uninterrupted work and chore time and shower time until lunch was quite possibly the most enjoyable morning I've had in, oh, about 8 years. So that's what a quiet house sounds like!
Elliot is going to a Montessori school for 1/2 day preschool, so I pick him up a little after noon. But seriously, after 8 years of being home with the boys and only having random babysitters and occasional mornings off, this 3 + hours a day to myself is going to take some getting used to!

Oh, starting the empty nest syndrome WAY too early, Lisel! Both boys look so excited about their new schools! Here's hoping both of them have wonderful school years! And may you have ample time to get everything you need done, even if that means doing nothing at all!

Yes, Lisel, where have the last 8 years gone! The countenance of both the boys express great pleasure at heading off to school. Elliott seems soooo pleased to finally being a school boy. I cannot help but reflect back on another tow-headed little boy who was soooo pleased to be among the school crowd - like his big brother.
I am glad you were able to work in some recreation into the summer. You have had a BUSY summer, so enjoy your 3+ hours each day to the fullest. GG

Sounds blissful... I join you tomorrow. Declan starts 9-12 and Duncan (sniff sniff) will be at school 8:30-3! The desk audit and other business ick will cramp the chance to get my house clean for a while, but quiet chores- I can just imagine! Enjoy. xo ht
What totally gorgeous boys!!!!!!God go with you, boys, and bless this school year!!! I know two teachers who are in for a tremendous treat!! Lisel, these morning hours are going to continue to be so very special! You are going to enjoy quiet cups of tea or coffee, write, read, clean, run errands and you won't believe how much you will be able to work into those couple of hours! Totally enjoy! we love you all!
