Then on Sunday we went to the park and just played.... we kicked the soccer ball (yes, even I did it -- I'm trying to get this baby to come out!!!!!!) and threw the frisbee and walked around enjoying the 80 degree weather.....

A lovely weekend...
For the past month or so, we have been running errands and taking care of baby business on the weekends, so last weekend we decided to just enjoy the beautiful weather. On Saturday we went to a really great theatre festival for young children where Owen got to see some puppet shows and dances and jugglers. He loved it!

Perfecting his comedy routine...
Overheard yesterday:
Paul: Owen?
Owen: Yes, Daddy?
Paul: Never mind.
Owen: Why did you say never mind?
Paul: I decided not to say what I was going to say.
Owen: Oh.
(pause)
Owen: Daddy?
Paul: Yes?
(slight pause)
Owen: Never mind!

Paul: Never mind.

Still keeping busy
This is one one of the many ways we like to pass our time: playing alphabet categories. We searched through the house and found something that begins with each letter of the alphabet and then displayed them on Owen's table. See if you can spot them all!
Then yesterday Owen and I spent 3 hours sorting and counting his coins in his treasure chest. He has an amazing assortment of coins from all over the world, and he came up with this really interesting method of sorting that included about 10 steps -- I loved it! He's so good at getting really involved in intricate games of his own devising....
But of course, he also loves to jump around and get a little crazy. So thanks Aunt Kirstie and Uncle Joe for your visits! Owen loves to get rambunctious with you guys!
And in other news Owen caught a cold and gave it to Paul ( just in time for Paul's birthday)... so we are a little haven of cold germs right now. Just in time for baby's arrival! Although I want baby brother to come sooner rather than later now I'm hoping he waits until the germ factory that is our family has repaired itself. I haven't caught it yet, which is good because on top of the usual late pregnancy fatigue and complaints and lower back pain, a cold would really be the worst.... stay tuned.

Hanging in there...
Owen is in desperate need for some outside stimulation (park, walk, backyard) but I have been just completely unable to do anything active with him. I spend most of my afternoons lying on the couch with my legs up. Fun.
However, Owen has gotten really good at playing with me while I remain immobile. We've been doing workbooks, puzzles, Candyland, Bingo, etc... It's like a Game emporium here at the Getz household!
Yesterday he wanted to jump around and dance with me and I explained to him that I couldn't do it right now but once baby brother comes along, I would be able to jump around with him again. So he said "Ok!!!! In two weeks baby will be here and then you can play with me!!!!" Does he know something I don't know? Let's hope he's right and it's not any longer than two weeks cause these last few weeks are killing me!!!!!!
Owen is very excited to meet his brother. We all are!!! I'll let you blog readers know how things are going.....

We were at a coffee shop the other day and Owen got a little box of animal crackers as a treat. He wanted to eat the whole box, of course. Paul and I were definitive with our no's and told him that cookies are special treats and should be eaten a little at a time and not all at once! Owen's new favorite answer is "Well...." and then he proceeds to explain why things should go according to his plan and not ours. Mr. Negotiator!!!! So this time he said "Well...... but these aren't cookies these are crackers, so I can eat them all now!" Nice try, kid!
Monday we got a new furniture piece for our living room (in an attempt to organize and somehow contain all of Owen's things so that they don't take over the house).... For the past few days Owen and I have been enjoying the packaging. It's kind of like my cats... when I buy them a new cat toy they tend to play with the packaging or the paper bag the toy came in and not the toy itself.... well Owen really got into the styrofoam used for shipping the new bookcase. We spent all afternoon building "skyscrapers"!

Oh, and then yesterday Owen drew this fabulous picture of his baby brother:

As if you were there with us!
Owen's "I'm concentrating" look, with his tongue in the thoughtful position:
Followed by: hours of fun sorting the bingo balls! (Thanks Dzia Dzia and Grandma Fran!)
Santa's exciting surprise gift: a Thomas the Tank Engine set available only in Japan!!! Owen was of course VERY excited about this one...
Owen received so many thoughtful and wonderful gifts, it was hard to capture each moment on film, but I thought these pictures would give you a good idea of the thrill of Christmas morning....

Welcome to 2007!
Well, we have not fallen off the face of the earth!!!!
Instead, we had a really nice vacation. Paul took two weeks off work and we spent a lovely amount of time enjoying life at home over the holidays -- doing puzzles, playing bingo and spending time with visiting family and friends. I will upload some pictures and stories (hopefully later today).
Also, I confess I was resting on the laurels of the fortune cookie story and couldn't come up with a story to post that would match it. So I coasted for a few weeks!!!!!!
But now we are into 2007 at full steam and it's time to get you some pictures and stories as we celebrate a new year with Owen and await the arrival of Baby Brother in 5 short weeks!!!!!!!
Stay tuned....
