Tongues are wagging

Click the picture below to see the whole set on Flickr.....

And here is something exciting that has nothing to do with Owen or Elliot: Owen and I were playing a complicated game involving some orange safety cones in the backyard the other day (click on the Flickr link to see more about that) and we discovered some baby hummingbirds in a nest on our avocado tree!!!! Absolutely amazing. The mommy hummingbird scolded us for getting too close, but Paul was able to capture this picture:

Happy Springtime!
Almost every day for the past two weeks there was a moment during the day when I thought "Oh, this should go on the blog!" or I took a picture and thought " everyone should see this, I can't wait to write a witty and clever story on the blog about this." Then, two weeks passed by and as you may have noticed not much has been written or posted about.

So, I will attempt to bring you all ( whoever you all are who read this blog) up to date with our adventures here....

First of all, this should come as no surprise to those who know him well, but Owen is a really truly wonderful big brother. He is so helpful and seems undaunted by the wailing sounds that permeate the household occasionally. Here he is helping with Tummy Time:

and Cuddle Time on the couch:

Speaking of wailing in the background, I've got to go relieve Paul who unfortunately does not have the magic cure-all that I do (mother's milk to the rescue).... Hopefully I'll have another break later and can update you more.

Love is....

also a virus. We've all got it pretty bad in this house! That is, in addition to the cold virus.
Unfortunately, Elliot suffers from A.B.S. (Acute Baby Syndrome). Owen was also afflicted by this tragic disorder when he was a baby. We are planning on starting an A.B.S. support group as soon as we can. (Thanks, Paul, for letting me use your joke...)

Attack of the virus

Well, we all got sick last weekend. And by all I mean ALL. Owen was our little Typhoid Mary and brought home some sort of mutant cold that has been decidedly unpleasant. He had a fever over the weekend and a river of snot has been draining from his nose since Saturday.... Paul got it pretty bad and even called in sick to work on Monday and Tuesday. I got it bad enough to make my eyes ache and my head feel like it weighs 20 lbs..... and worst of all poor Elliot couldn't escape the onslaught and has been terribly congested.

It's so sad to hear his little sinuses so stuffed up! Here he is at 3 weeks and he already has his first cold. Poor kid. This means his behavior has been the exact opposite of my last post.... forget the 3-4 hours sleeping at night and the solid daytime naps. When you can't breathe you can't sleep or eat well at all so he has been more than a little cranky these past few days.... and let me tell you when he is cranky, I'm cranky too!!!!! And of course Owen can't go to preschool with this cold so we've been a little bored....

On Monday we rented the Disney version of Robin Hood (with all the animals) and watched a matinee on the couch in the middle of the afternoon. That was fun.... Can we do that every day?

Two 1/2 weeks...

Well, I do plan on ultimately reorganizing this blog to accomodate the new family member. But until I figure out the fastest and easiest way to do that, I will continue to update you here as best I can...

Needless to say I have a lot of things I could post about! The problem is remembering them all when I actually have time to sit and type at the computer. Right now, Owen is "helping" me type by using my leg as a computer and typing his own message on my thigh. He just "clicked and sent" about 5 messages already so that means I don't have a ton of time to keep typing my own before he will clamor to do something else...

Long story short: things are going great. Paul went back to work on Monday and since then Owen, Elliot and I have been trying to figure out how to live with each other. Elliot seems pretty easy so far ( is that my expectations that have changed or could I possibly have a good sleeper on my hands?). i've been getting 3-4 hour stretches of sleep at night and he takes solid 2-3 hour naps during the day so i have actually had some time to wash dishes and do laundry and clean up the house ( you know, all the fun stuff that moms get to do)......

Owen wants me to type this for you: "Elliot I love you! Elliot talks when he opens his mouth. he says Mommy, can you bring some milk for me? uhhhh, thank you! That's all I want to say."

Thanks for the blog input, Owen! Owen's a funny guy and I love how he doesn't seem to be bothered by Elliot's wailing ( the car seat is not Elliot's favorite place to be). Let's just say that taking Owen to preschool this week was a loud experience as Owen and I tried to sing to keep Elliot from being so upset during the ride.

Anyway, that's all for now. Here are some pictures taken over the last few days. Elliot has grown so big already I barely recognize him from his first few days.....

Last Sunday hanging out on the couch:

A rare moment of peace before he realizes the injustice of being strapped into the car seat:
