This book is one of the boys' favorites. It has a sort of magical realist plot and incredibly detailed illustrations that captivated Owen the instant he saw them. This book has been in heavy rotation since Owen got it at Christmas time, and Owen's recent interest in pencil drawings has been heavily influenced by the illustrator here.
We read this book yesterday and then proceeded to have a marshmallow sculpture fest. The boys were shirtless because, hey, it is Spring Break after all!
Owen wanted to be sure to point out the title of this sculpture he did: "THE HIGHEST POINT".

Oh Lisel, so glad they are enjoying the book! Since he loved Cloudy with Meatballs, it figures the boys would like this one too. And I love the hilarious pictures of the boys without shirts. Of course, our temps are changing to cool again, so day 3 of Spring break will be a bit more dressed, no? Great sculpture, Owen! And good design there, Elliot!
How very cute! What a combination of simple materials and creative juices! Besides the marshmallows have such lovely squishy texture - that has to add to the pleasure. Owen, your sculpture is cleaver. GG
